post pregnancy weight loss c section | Before After with Andrea from Worley House

post pregnancy weight loss c section

Andrea of Worley House is sharing her weight loss success story with us today.  Im super proud of this girl.  She lost 68 pounds by eating healthy and working out AT HOME.  If you have weight to lose, take heart, Andrea saw big improvements in just three months!  Shes got two kids (one my sons age) and a younger one as well.  Please leave Andrea a comment on this post so that she knows she has inspired you.  Its brave of her to share her story!  Also, check out her blog- I think youll like it!

Hi Honey Were Healthy Readers! My name is Andrea Worley, I blog over at my little slice of the Internet called Worley House! Im so honored that Megan asked me to share a bit of my story here, on a topic I never thought Id ever share about; weight loss and becoming healthy.

I had my second baby in December 2012, my pregnancy with #2 was much harder on my body, I gained about the same amount of weight that I did with my first but I was already over weight and not very healthy when I got pregnant the second time around. So I think that those things combined with a difficult pregnancy added to my discomfort.

On delivery day I weighed in at 190 pounds. I knew that some of that weight was baby, excess water and fluids. Couple weeks after having my second baby I weighed myself, 168 pounds on my 52 frame. At that point I knew that I needed to change a lot of habits if I wanted to lose the weight and become healthy.

I started working out and changing what I was eating. I dont have a gym membership, Im just a woman and a mother using what she has to make her life healthier and better. I dusted off my DVD of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and used it daily. Well past the 30 days. It was 20 minutes, but certainly not easy for me. It was a great starting point, and I knew I needed to make time for myself if I was going to reach my goals.

I set small goals for myself when I first started losing weight. I also started tracking everything I ate through My Fitness Pal. This was a good visual for me to see the calories I was consuming. To learn portion control and because I was still breast feeding as well I needed to make sure I was eating enough calories to still produce and not reduce my supply.

After three months of eating well and daily exercise.

After three months of eating well and daily exercise I started to see some major results. It gave me to motivation to keep going and set new goals. My healthy lifestyle change has spilled over into every area of my life and to my family.

I started drinking tons and tons of water. I believe water intake is huge for weight loss and flushing out your system. I omitted all dairy from my diet as well, started cutting out sweets and sugary drinks. I also eat five small meals a day. My diet is mostly clean, and when I say that I mean I am human. I have a cookie sometimes. I strive for consistency in this- not perfection.

Once I started making changes to my eating habits and working out I noticed right away that I was sleeping better and easier at night. The headaches that I was getting often were gone, and over all I had a better outlook on life and on myself.

I also believe that my lifestyle change also helped get me out of my post baby funk. My whole outlook changed.

The picture on the left is my "before" picture taken in May 2013, and the one on the right was taken at the end of October 2013. Im down 68 pounds now and have reached the goal weight that I wanted to be at.

I believe in always setting new goals for yourself, stretching yourself and making your body work for you and not against you. I still work out daily, I do videos from the comfort of my own home and have now added running into my workouts. Ive learned that food is fuel for your body. Its not supposed to make you feel good about yourself, or make you happy. The purpose of food is to nourish our bodies and allow it to do what God created it to do. I really believe you have to change your outlook on food as well.

Almost a year into my fitness journey, Ive met some of my original goals. Its time to make new ones and always continue to thrive in living a healthy life. Im looking forward to running my first 5K ever this March. Dont give up if you dont see results immediately, change takes time. Your body didnt get where its at over night, so give yourself time to makes the right and healthy changes.

If youre wanting to make a change I encourage you to just start, theres never going to be a "perfect day" to start or a perfect month. Once you start you will never regret it. Once you start to see your body change you wont regret it either. Its easier to not work out, I believed this for far to long but once I started making changes in my habits it gave me a new outlook as well. And, I wont lie it feels pretty great to have nothing that fits and your pants be a little looser than before. Its a great perk!

Thanks Megan for letting me share today! If youre looking for more tips, encouragement and motivation visit me over on my blog, find me on Facebook ,  Twitter or Instagram @worleyhouse.

post pregnancy weight loss routine | Start of Preschool 2015 3s Class

post pregnancy weight loss routine

Last year, as I walked Jack to his first day of preschool, I had a big lump in my throat. It would be our first time apart for any appreciable amount of time during the day. I held back tears as he made this first transition of many that will prepare him for adulthood. My little social boy didnt bat an eye as he marched into his class with new friends and new teachers.

This year was a little different. We barely had time for a photo as I herded my sweet boy out the door and quickly buckled him and his little brother into the car. On the drive to school, we talked about the importance of not having a potty accident at school, and then in a flurry, I dropped him with a new teacher and new friends. I dont even think he stopped to hug me goodbye.

What a difference a year makes.

A month later, we are in less of a hurry. I am learning from my more experienced mom friends and packing lunches the night before, while also making a more concerted effort to not be late every.single.day. Jack is also taking a moment to pause and give me a hug and kiss before he runs off. Each morning at drop off, he also tells me that he will miss me. I love my sweet boy who is growing up too fast!

Here is a little about Jack at the start of Preschool 2015, 3s Class:
(questions asked after one month of school, because Im behind)
My teachers this year are: Mrs. Lisa and Mrs. Melinda.
I am: 3.5 years old.
I am: 40 inches tall and weigh 37 pounds.
My best friends name is: Drew [I would be remiss to not include Audrey, Anya, Sammy and Roan, but he specifically said Drew when I asked]
My favorite thing to play is: Everything
My favorite color is: Every Color
My favorite book is: Madeline
My favorite TV show is: Rescue Bots
My favorite food is: Pizza
When I grow up, I want to be: A Fire Fighter Man
Something I really like: Playing with Drew at school
Something I dont like: Eating Food
My favorite thing about myself is: My Legs
Something I want to do this year: Go to Pumpkin Patch, the Fire House, Preschool and the Beach House.
A Look Back: Start of Preschool 2014, 2s Class

after pregnancy weight loss in hindi | It is with great joy

after pregnancy weight loss in hindi

that I announce the birth of our son, David Newton, Jr., on November 11, 2015 at 6:25pm. 7 lbs 12 oz and 20.25 inches. He was delivered by his daddy in our car. An ambulance arrived a few minutes later and we were taken to the closest hospital. All of us are healthy and doing well. It was certainly a crazy birth, but in many ways his unconventional entrance seems like a very unexpected answer to so many of our prayers.

We came home yesterday and are learning what its like to be a family of four. Big sis Lucia is especially very enamored and protective of "little brudder". Thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family throughout this pregnancy, we are so grateful!

Birth story to come. In the meantime, here are some pictures of little Davids first few days.

post pregnancy weight loss regime | Chattanooga Aquarium Play Date

post pregnancy weight loss regime

Now that school is in full swing (Tues - Thurs), we have been making an effort to have a friend day on Mondays and Fridays (sometimes this just means going to hang out at the Y, sometimes it means doing an activity, sometimes we do both).

On Monday we met up with some friends at the Chattanooga Aquarium. We had 8 kids with us, so we worked on a buddy system to keep track of the kids. They all did great. It didnt hurt that it was the middle of the week and not busy.

The oldest boy in our group, Patrick, buddied up with Jack. This worked well (for the most part). Jack kind of likes to do his own thing, but he also really likes hanging out with our friends older boys.

We only had time for one building, but we did catch the divers in the big tank. I think all of the kids with us were brave and each asked a question.

We had such a fun time, even if we only had 1.5 hours to play.

If you havent been to the Chattanooga Aquarium, I would definitely recommend it. We have a family pass this year and try to take advantage of it when we can.

pregnancy and losing weight in first trimester | Un deserving

pregnancy and losing weight in first trimester

Things have been going well for us recently. Im 15 weeks pregnant and all seems healthy and normal. Were moving back near family. David was offered a job that is perfect for his background and future career development AND will give the the ability to stay at home with my children. I feel greatly blessed and, honestly, completely unworthy.

Weve been married almost five years and much of our marriage has been spent struggling with one thing or another - several out-of-state moves, unemployment and financial worries, multiple miscarriages, etc. But Ive never felt that we deserved for things to be better. Life is hard. There are no guarantees. And things always could have been worse. I had a wonderful husband and beautiful daughter and even when times were hard and we needed help, we always had a place to live and food to eat. Now that things are looking up, I feel very undeserving. Why should we be given so many blessings when there are so many others still waiting for a baby or a job or a spouse? Even though weve gone through medical treatments to fix my health issues so we could have a viable pregnancy and David has worked hard (and spent many years in school) so that he could get a good job, these things still feel like such unmerited blessings.

I recently read a post on "being the fertile friend". I definitely wouldnt consider myself the "fertile friend", but Im not infertile either. And the pit in the stomach feeling when I think of all my friends that have been waiting for babies longer than me - I can totally relate to that. Even though Ive had my share of fertility struggles, there is always someone who is suffering more, who has had more miscarriages, who has no children. I never think, "I deserve this baby after what Ive gone through." I always think, "There are other women so much more deserving." Because there are.

Many pregnancy after loss websites and resources list pregnancy affirmations to help women cope with anxiety during a pregnancy after loss. Ive found a few affirmations that have been very helpful to me (this is my favorite) but there are several Ive come across that leave a bad taste in my mouth. They are along the lines of "I deserve a healthy baby and pregnancy," or "I deserve the best life has to offer".

In our society, we often invest heavily in the ideas of "fairness" or "entitlement" or "output matching input"  but its obvious that nothing in this world follows those ideals. A college graduate may deserve a good career, but there are many who struggle at dead-end jobs below a living wage. Someone who has always made healthful life choices may deserve good health, but we all know a person like that struggling with cancer or another debilitating illness. Stable, loving couples struggle with infertility while abusive parents have more children they dont want and wont care for.

As a Christian, I dont believe that anything is owed to me, especially not a child. A baby is always a gift, a completely undeserved gift. And Christianity is not based on rewards for good behavior or results equal to effort. Thank goodness for that because nothing I do could ever be worthy of Christs sacrifice for my sins. Christianity is not a promise of comfort or ease. Its not safe or easy. Its full of crosses and suffering, disappointments and pain. But also total undeserved grace, blessings, and gifts.

I cant explain why right now my family is being showered in blessings when others are crushed under the weight of ever-increasing suffering, other than to say that we live in a world in which sin twists Gods original design and nothing makes sense because nothing is as it should be. Im mindful even in the midst of the goodness that currently surrounds us that all in this world is temporary, blessings just as much as sufferings. And I pray often for those who are waiting for their blessings because I know that it was the prayers of others that carried us through our toughest times.

At the heart of all of the blessings and sufferings of this world, there is a light, a hope of the world to come. All else changes, all else is fleeting, but the light is constant. In good times, its sometimes harder to keep my eyes on that light. The worldly goodness around us makes the light of Christ less noticeable, like the beam of a flashlight at midday. In the darkness of suffering and pain, that light stands in stark contrast - a beacon in the starless night. And so, there is a piece of me that is scared. Scared that the goodness of this world will detract me from my desire for God. Scared that Ill take these blessings for granted. Scared that Ill be lulled into complacency. Scared that someday Ill look at my life and feel deserving of the goodness in it, entitled to more. Oh, that is a scary thing indeed.

baby weight loss birth | Can You Get More Toned Skin From a Bottle Bliss Fat Girl Six Pack

baby weight loss birth

Happy Monday friends!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  With all the working out Ive been doing lately, Ive noticed that Ive been more tired at the end of the day (which is a good thing!) because it means Im getting to bed at a decent hour instead of staying up way too late.  I even slept from 9:30 p.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Sunday.  I guess my body needed it.  As I write this on Sunday night, Im thinking of the Monday morning workout with my trainer, which I know is gonna be awesome (and so hard).  Im loving these workouts and actually look FORWARD to them!

I showed yall last week that, although my tummy is looking much tighter these days, theres still work to be done.  I was provided a toning gel formulated to help firm and tone your skin, called Fat Girl SixPack by Bliss.  Im giving it a try and will let you know what I think. The product states that its not a weight loss or fat loss cream, but is formulated with amino acids, creatine, oat kernel extract, latex-rich manilkara tree extract, menthol, and a special botanical extract to help you get firmer skin (in combination with exercise and a healthy diet).

I have the exercise and healthy diet going on, so lets see if I notice any difference with this gel.  Im going to follow the directions and put it on my stomach twice a day for 20-30 seconds for 2 weeks and will report back with my "findings".  I have tried it once (you pump the bottle up and massage the gel into your skin with the applicator. Its easy to apply and the cream feels nice and tingly on your skin- perhaps from the menthol.

With bikini season/shorts and sundress weather right around the corner, now is the time to start working toward that body you want. ;)  Are you ready to start making some changes so you feel healthy, beautiful and happy this summer?  Have you tried Fat Girl SixPack?  If so, Id love to hear what you think.  You can buy it at most beauty supply stores like Ulta or Sephora.

Below are some pics I snapped on Sunday night, which shows where Im starting with my Fat Girl SixPack, and also marks 13 weeks out from my bikini competition.

Lets kick some butt this week!

*Thanks to Bliss for sponsoring todays post.

weight loss rate after pregnancy | Life Lessons from Wilderness Trek

weight loss rate after pregnancy

Twenty-three years ago I climbed Mt. Elbert in Colorado.

View from top of Mt. Elbert, summer 1992

Its kind of weird that I now have enough life experiences to state that something occurred twenty-plus years ago.

View of valley while hiking up Mt. Sherman, summer of 1994

Anyway, that particular trip was my first true backpacking experience, but certainly not the last. I have written about Wilderness Trek before, and it truly was one of the most influential experiences of my life.

Hiking up Mt. Sherman, summer of 1994

At the ripe age of twelve-and-a-half, I was exposed to grandeur beyond my comprehension and the principle that when life is difficult, it is always best to reach out and encourage, or help someone else.

Mt. Antero, summer of 1996

On Wilderness Trek every person carries not only their own essentials for a five-day trek into the wilderness, but also various items for the crew you are assigned to. Everyone is carrying weight beyond what you might think you can endure (35-50 lbs), and regardless of your fitness level, it is a tough trip. Obviously the more fit you are, the easier it is, but it isnt easy.

Rapelling on the Mt. Antero trip, summer 1996

The thing that made the experience of climbing a mountain more bearable (besides the amazing views) was to try to motivate someone else who was struggling to keep moving.

My sister, Angela, and I on the Mt. Antero trip, summer 1996

When I could dig down deep and encourage another to keep plodding along, one foot in front of the other, it allowed me to forget my own difficult journey. If I could take a moment to encourage others to look up from staring at the ground and breathe in the beauty that we were all enveloped in, it allowed me to take in the moment myself.

On the trail. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

Last week I was reminded of that principle. I was in a funk, in the midst of my very own pity party, focused on myself and some of my own frustrations. It was all I could think about as I drove to the Y for a midday pick-me-up.

On the trail. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

Working out helped to lift my spirits and clear my mind. I felt less alone as I let the endorphins take away my frustrations. But it was after my workout that I was reminded of this lesson from my youth.

Summit Day, Mt. Antero, summer 1996

As I spoke with a friend, I learned that another mom with a newborn was walking through a difficult valley right now. The cliff notes of the situation broke my heart and I felt ashamed of my pity party.

My sister on our "summit". We had to turn around before the actual
summit because a storm was moving in. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

At that moment I shifted gears because I really believe that when we slow down, and move our focus from ourselves to how we can support others, it changes us for the better. It makes us better humans.

The girls on our "summit" as a storm moved in. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

I learned so much from Wilderness Trek, and even 23 years later I find that I am still applying those lessons to my life.

Angela and I on our "summit" as a storm moved in. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

This is just one of the many lessons and experiences I had on Wilderness Trek. Those trips had a profound impact on me and I hope that someday my boys can have similar experiences.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4
...You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.
Luke 10:27
