rapid weight loss during pregnancy | Coconut Oil

rapid weight loss during pregnancy

I love coconut oil!  I use it for lip balm, lotion, cooking and several other things! Its pretty much amazing. Its anti-inflamatory, anti-microbial, anti-viral and helps you to absorb more nutrients from your food. You can use it for moisturizer and even deodorant.   Kael thinks its pretty awesome, too.  He wanted to put some on his lips yesterday, so I let him. Then, I just watched as he continued to rub it all in his hair and eat finger scoops of it. He must have been listening to me earlier when I was telling Sam how good it is for curly hair...haha.  I figured the mess would be minimal and he was having fun experimenting with the texture. Needless to say,  Kael smells like a tropical beach boy. =)

Have you ever used coconut oil? Here is an amazing link that tells you over 100 different uses for it! CLICK HERE  Do you have a favorite recipe or usage for it? Id love to hear!

can weight loss occur during pregnancy | Words I Love

can weight loss occur during pregnancy

" ...It is the stories and the cherishing that make us beautiful. May you catch each falling moment in your hands and kiss it as it goes." -Mary Wein These are the Lines of a Story

Those are the last words from an essay that I just read this morning, after a friend posted it on facebook. And now, my heart is a lovely mess. You seriously need to take 5 minutes and read it. I was left in tears. Good tears.  It is too precious and filled my heart with so much truth and love. Written by a mother, embracing her body and the beauty of this story of life. Grab a tissue, the last paragraph was it for me, as she wrote to her son...get ready. I want to raise my boys with this heart and ode to true beauty, helping mold them into amazing future loves and husbands. Its given me a whole new awareness of how I see and treat myself, especially in front of them.  *insert love filled sob here.* Anna, Im so glad you posted this.

Love and happy reading.
Jess

quick weight loss during pregnancy | Stocking Stuffers Make A Beerd

quick weight loss during pregnancy

These easy-to-make "koozies" are the perfect, fun gift for a guy. Last month, I made several for party favors at Sams lumberjack birthday party and sold out of them at a vintage market that I recently participated in! All of the guys LOVED them! My friend Jessie thought up the name "Beerds" haha. Its a beerd for your beer. If you dont have a sewing machine and arent really the crafty type, who says you cant use a stapler or you can hand stitch the seam. These were such a hit so, I wanted to share the fun!

Merry Christmas!

Super easy! Place your pattern on the fold of the faux fur, cut, sew and turn inside out! Thats it!

weight loss during pregnancy with no morning sickness | Rain Play

weight loss during pregnancy with no morning sickness

This has seriously been the rainiest summer Ive ever remembered. I love rain, but when its everyday, my mind starts to wander back to the longing for sunny times and the smell of coconut from my sunscreen. Wishing the soppy mush of mud and humidity away wont make it disappear so, weve tried to make the best out of it. If we cant go swimming, then why not plan on making a different kind of outing and mess? Any time we get one of those crazy summer showers and the kids are awake, I grab a couple of towels, open the door and out we go. They love it. I love it. Yeah, we track mud and water in the house, but better to clean up a happy mess than a depressed mess right? Its my rainy summer policy.

I came to this decision, after being cooped up inside for 3 weeks straight. I was buried in projects, planning new things, keeping my small souls fed and happy. The gray gloom of rainstorms wasnt helping. I was starting to feel like I was becoming the stress I was creating for myself. Not really "stress" but, when the enjoyment of something is replaced by obligation, its the breeding ground of stress for me. That usually happens when I put too much on my plate, thinking I can somehow do it all without any real system of managing my time. I was just the next mess of dried banana I had to scrape off of the floor,  those 5 batches of photos I still need to edit, the new blog design that needs to be finished, the logo I have to decide on, the 15 tattoo commissions I need to respond to...oh and planning birthdays, vacations and launch dates for upcoming ventures. Whoa. Stop. Slow down. I have to feel alive. I cant be a passionless machine that resents the things (or people)  Im passionate about. It overwhelmed me like a wave, all at once. I looked out my window. It was pouring rain. I let myself just feel. I was all of a sudden running out my front door. Within 30 seconds, I was drenched.  And, it was amazing. I walked down our street, and with every raindrop and wipe of my eyes, (who cares if my mascara is all over the place?) I could feel the color coming back into my soul. It was my reset button.

When the down pour turned into light sprinkles, Sam came out with the kids and we just played. Puddles became our magical ponds, leaves became boats to sail and everything was a new. The mushy feel of the grass and the smell of warm wet concrete was better than any anthropologie candle. Thus began my summer policy of playing in the rain.  Its spontaneous, and we make it an adventure.

I was a spontaneous nut all the time, before children. Why not now?  I always pictured my kids jumping in puddles and making mud pies, before I had them. But, I find myself pulling away from the messy spontaneity of moments like that so often because of the clean up, the aftermath, the inconvenience. I kind of woke up to the fact that schedules and the easy of the predictable and manageable was in a way, running my show and smooshing who I am as a person and a mother. Isnt motherhood just an extension of who we are? Why change so much, just for the sake of whats expected or because Im tired? Im going to be tired for the next 20 or so years!  Im not throwing my system and schedules to the wind, but definitely not letting them control who I am as a fellow life adventurer with my boys.

Life is so short. There are so many puddles waiting to be muddied by tiny toes and, one thousand giggles waiting to set free from my little boys souls. Im making it my mission to not let one of those laughs be forgotten in the name of structure or order.

Cheers to enjoying.

-Jess
