Since school has started up, I feel like we are busier than ever. Jack is learning so much already (at home and at school). 

 Creative Discovery Musuem

He is figuring out the days of the week and knows that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are school days. He has also learned how to count to 100 (we practice in the car, I just have to help with the 10s). 

 Chester Frost Lake

On top of learning, we are also making an effort to do fun things on Mondays and Fridays with friends who dont necessarily go to preschool with us.

The Pumpkin Patch

Play dates in September included swimming at Chester Frost lake, visits to the Creative Discovery Museum, the zoo and the aquarium. 

 Hidden Hills Farm Tractor Day

We also went to a local farm day, took a family bike ride and are always ready to hit up our local parks (The Pumpkin Patch on Signal Mountain is our favorite, though having a park right across the street from us is pretty sweet, too).

Chattanooga Aquarium 

Jack recently convinced Daniel that they should take his powerwheels car and our four wheeler to the park across the street so that they could "play tag." This involves chasing each other with the vehicles. The goal is to get close and yell "youre it" and then the other person becomes the chaser.

Neighborhood Bike Ride

Isaac also got his first, brief, ride on the four wheeler. As usual, he could care less and was content to just hang out (even though the four wheeler is loud).

Another new game that is a favorite at our house is walkie talkies. We had a set from years ago and Daniel busted them out and recently showed Jack how they work. We play a form of hide-and-seek in the house that involves Jack hiding and us guessing where he is over the walkie talkies. I actually love this game because I dont have to physically go look for him. Also it is fun to give him orders over the walkie talkies and he tries to do the things we say.

This week is Jacks Fall Break and while I had dreams of doing a lot of outdoor activities, the weather has not been cooperating. Instead we are enjoying having Daniel at home and getting some things accomplished around the house.

We have been using cloth diapers this time around (as we did with Jack) and I thought I would share a quick update.

We are actually using the same diapers we bought 3.5 years ago. We used them for about two years with Jack and then put them in storage. Of the 30 diapers we had, 10 leaked when we pulled them out to use for Isaac. Sadly, some of my favorite patterns are among our diapers that are no longer usable! It took me several weeks to figure out which diapers were the culprits and to set them aside. I tried stripping them, but that process did not seem to work.

We ended up purchasing 10 new diapers as replacements from Just Simply Baby (our favorite diaper the first time around). I still generally like this company, but was a little disappointed in two ways: 

1) Just Simply Baby no longer sells a microfiber insert. This was my favorite insert in that it dries the fastest and seemed to be the most absorbent in my experience. Their new standard inserts are called "Microboo" and they are really thick and take FOREVER to dry. (Microboo is a combination of Microfiber and Bamboo.) 

2) Several of my newly purchased diapers leak. This is disappointing since they are brand new. 

I reached out to the company regarding the fact that they no longer sell microfiber AND the fact that some of my new diapers leak. They offered to sell me some leftover microfiber diapers (in lieu of an exchange – even though I thought I ordered microfiber) and they have not responded regarding the new leaking diapers. This is disappointing.

Anyways, overall we are still having a good cloth diapering experience with Isaac. I like that he rarely gets diaper rashes (when he does, a little coconut oil clears it right up). I like that the price is so much cheaper than disposable. And I like that cloth diapers dont have a smell to them (I have been using some Honest Company diapers that were given to me and they dont smell... however, in my experience with disposable diapers, I think that Pampers Cruisers work best, but they smell).

Also, we rarely have blowouts with our cloth diapers, so I am a big fan, even if it takes a little extra work with having to wash them (Rockin Green is still our go-to detergent).

Several years ago, my niece Izzy went through an "actually" stage. Jack is currently in that stage - its his new favorite word. He uses it all.the.time.

Saw a picture of birds in a bird cage and was very concerned about the birds, "Theyre trapped!"

Me: Im going to set a timer on my phone [for screen time].
Jack: Set it for 100 minutes.

Jack: I dont like this [gnocchi]... have I had it before?

Me: Just finish your bite.

Jack: Oh, yeah I like it.

Mommy, when will you have a day off so you can go grocery shopping?

Dont sing that song, or off with your roses! [head, Alice in Wonderland reference]

Daniel: Hey Jack, since Sophie is in  the drivers seat Im going to let her drive the car and take you to go get pizza. 

Jack: Actually daddy, Sophie cant drive the car. 

Daniel: Why not? 

Jack: Because she doesnt have any hands.
