post baby weight loss regime | 2015 Vacation Breakfast at the Beach

post baby weight loss regime

This year we decided to take a little tour of some of the top breakfast joints in the area close to our condo in Laguna Beach. I love a good breakfast – especially at a local dive – so we hit up the best places we could find as listed by Trip Adviser and Zomato (formally UrbanSpoon).

DONUT HOLE

First up was Donut Hole in Rosemary Beach. We loved Donut Hole in Destin, but I think we liked this new Donut Hole better. Probably because it was a much bigger restaurant and we had absolutely zero wait.

We actually almost didnt find the restaurant as it is so new that our GPS could not find it. Its not the same diner atmosphere as the Destin location, but it was still delicious food. Outside the restaurant were game areas including ping pong and a Donut Hole game (basically Corn Hole) so that you would have something to do if there was a wait.

I had a Seafood Omelet (which was fantastic), while Jack discovered the little jelly packets on the table and insisted on toast and pancakes at every breakfast place, and Daniel had a healthy Grilled Chicken Salad (it was noon after all).

When we paid our bill we all chose donuts from the donut case. They were excellent. We are definitely fans of Donut Hole (#4 breakfast place in Panama City Beach on Trip Advisor).

FATTY PATTYS

On Day Two of our trip, we went to Fatty Pattys for breakfast. The slogan for the restaurant is "For the little fatty patty in all of us." I thought the slogan was hilarious.

Great coffee and excellent breakfast. I had the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes with Eggs and Bacon, Daniel had a Chocolate Chip Waffle and Jack stuck with his pancakes and toast.

Our waitress told us to be sure to grab donuts at Thomas Donut & Snack Shop in Laguna Beach.

We all loved Fatty Pattys and would plan on going back if we were in the area (#3 breakfast place in Panama City Beach on Trip Advisor).

JESSES PLACE

On Day Three we tried Jesses Place. It is a family-owned diner in Panama City Beach.  They serve breakfast and are also a meat-and-three, serving food until 2pm.

Our waiter was the son of the owners and he was great. We had wonderful service, the food was good and he kept gushing over our two boys. Its not often you have a young man gush over kiddos.

Daniel had the Papas Breakfast, I tried The Classic and we stuck with getting Jack toast. All of which was delicious. We were the last to leave the diner and they never hurried us.

We are big fans of Jesses Place and glad we made the stop there (#1 breakfast place in Panama City Beach on Trip Advisor).

THOMAS DONUT & SNACK SHOP

Finally, on our last morning we grabbed a donut from Thomas Donut & Snack Shop as advised by our waitress at Fattys Pattys. She suggested that we arrive early to get a good donut before they ran out.

Daniel took Jack and they got a donut with sprinkles for Jack (of course), a chocolate glazed one for Daniel and I had a Key-Lime Custard Filled donut. They werent super fresh, but they were all delicious (#2 breakfast place in Panama City Beach on Trip Advisor).

We ended up trying the top 4 bakeries/breakast eateries in the Panama City Beach area and really liked all of them.

weight loss during pregnancy morning sickness | Magic Days

weight loss during pregnancy morning sickness

Somedays I throw away schedules, the practical and the ordinary, to find something so sweet and simple,  that its magic. Magic that isnt measured by expense or achievement,  but by laughter filling the space around me, the sound of eager, excited questions and the look of wonderment on little faces.

We had already had a full morning with our friends at the farmer market, then gourmet doughnut munching,  train rides together, coffee sipping , story time at the library and then lunch. All of our kids were fully enjoying their time together. It was a tiring but perfect first half of the day.

During lunch we decided to be a bit daring and go on yet another adventure, skipping naps in order to take the kids to a fairy festival on a nearby plantation. I wasnt totally sure what we would find but, I was mentally prepared for the possibility of an extra melt down or two. It was worth it. As we explored the acres of woods,  I felt like I was 8 years old, living in a dream land finding the most amazing fairy houses scattered under various fallen trees, built from bark, moss and twigs. Our kids were in heaven. We were in heaven. Everyone around us was building an organic abode for little sprites and creatures. Its the best thing to my heart to see little kids finding so much joy in nature. The best.

We finished the day as it stretched into early evening, with a make shift camp on the beach, watching our kids sail their handmade fairy boats on the lake. No money was spent,  just time. Our hearts were filled up with goodness.  The pure joy in watching our kids imaginations go wild was worth stepping outside of my plan, the predictable and the thought out. Spontaneous "yeses," and taking the small risks outside of the routine can sometimes be just what I need.

As I sat there with two of my closest friends, soaking in the perfection of this afternoon, I told myself that this needs to be normal. How have I slipped away from this feeling? I want wonder to be the common that I never get tired of or take for granted.  I want to try and make more of an intention and effort to make the ordinary magic for my boys and for my own heart, in the coming weeks and months. I want normal to always have wide eyes of expectation and adventure. Why not?

...There might be a magical fairy, forest people world in my back yard by the end of spring. All are welcome.

baby losing weight while sick | Simple Days

baby losing weight while sick

The past two weeks have included me getting a hardcore flu (the worst with a newborn), legit, chilly fall weather, lots of finger painting projects for Kael at school, plus his first train ride with friends and lots of new smiles from Cedar. Ive started writing music again (which makes me feel extra alive).  Im about to start a new book study with some girls at church and C has consistently been sleeping through the night (making a very sane and happy momma). I really have been looking into my heart lately, holding onto simple love and acknowledging the areas in my soul that have grown and the parts that still need hope and grace. Theres beauty in the good and grace in and for everything else.

Gimme those cheeks.
foot snuggles
Curiosity
This right here is a like having a date with myself. Every month this is responsible for an extra smile on my face.
We just started the chapter of saying goodbye to paci. (prayers are appreciated.) ;)
Every morning, Kael asks to watch his tiger show from Animal Planet. Raaaaawr.
One nook of the boys room.
Pretty much Sams candy for our sick days.
If you want to be cool in Charlotte, pumpkin spice everything from Trader Joes.
My favorite treat of the season, local honey crisp apples.
At least 2-3 bananas a day.
Cows and horses have been a must all week. In the car, Kaels collection of "moo-moos" must come with us of course.
This box holds all of Kaels flash cards. He has a  daily ritual of going through all of them.
First item I ever bought for my house, for once we got married. A trumpet from the 1940s in Israel. Found it at a little antique shop in Jerusalem.
My flirt.
