rapid pregnancy weight loss | Baby 2 Our Favorite Baby Products 0 4 Months

rapid pregnancy weight loss

Isaac is four months now and I thought I would do a quick recap of the products we are using this time around.

Most of the things we own are from Jack (second kids get all hand-me-downs, #amiright). We had two showers for Jack (a family one and a work one) and many of those items continue to serve us well.

Isaac sleeps in the same Fisher-Price Rock N Play Newborn Sleeper that Jack did. Though he has about outgrown it. We love it because it keeps his head elevated and it is great for traveling (and keeping in our bedroom). We will move him upstairs to his crib soon.

We still have the same Kelty Messenger Diaper Bag. Almost four years later, some of the mesh material is starting to rip on the travel diaper changing pad, but overall this has been a great bag for us. Its not too big and Daniel doesnt mind carrying it. I also use a striped bag I picked up at Target earlier this year. It is technically my purse, but is big enough to basic throw baby necessities in (diaper, wipes, changing pad and one change of clothes).

Our second-hand BOB Revolution stroller is still a favorite. This summer it came in handy for loading up gear to take to the pool. Since Jack is 3.5 and a good walker, we decided that we didnt really need a double stroller.

I no longer have the Baby Bjorn baby carrier – it really dug into my shoulders and I didnt like it once Jack was over 12 pounds, BUT I have really liked having an Ergo carrier that I am borrowing from a friend. It doesnt dig into my shoulders and since Isaac is already 20-ish pounds, it is a better fit. I wear Isaac a lot in the Ergo when we are running around. I really like that it keeps my hands free so that I can engage with Jack. Also, it is perfect for grocery shopping (Jack just stands on the cart).

Our baby gym is still a favorite with Isaac. I lay him on it in the mornings and he loves to grab at the mobile and kick at the hanging toys. We also use a baby rocker for naps and Isaac enjoys swatting at the hanging toys.

Plastic Bathtub with sling insert. This is a basic plastic tub we were given when Jack was born and we are still using it for Isaac. Isaac is almost too big for the sling, so I will be glad when he can sit up on his own without the sling.

We still use our Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair. In the reclined position (without the tray), Isaac can sit with us at the dinner table. Isaac is very social and cries if he gets left out. It wont be long until we are using it for giving Isaac food – we will be doing baby-led weaning again this time around.

Cloth Diapers – we are still using our cloth diapers. We had 30 that we used with Jack, and about 10 of them leak now. After 3.5 years we were just thankful that most of them are still good. We ordered 10 new diapers and are back to 30. This allows me to wash a load every other day.

Overall, we are still using most of the same products as we did for Jack. I did lose a box of Jacks 0-6 month clothes, so we had to hit up the consignment sales to supplement, but he is already wearing many of Jacks old clothes. Burp cloths get a lot of use and Im glad we had a big stash from before.

Toys - at this stage Isaac is minimally interested in toys. But he really enjoys when we read books to Jack.

Things we are not currently using this time around:
Baby Monitor – we will use this once we move Isaac to his bedroom upstairs, but have used it minimally since Isaac sleeps in our room.

Sound Machine – we havent used this at all.

Bibs – Isaac spits up a lot, but not quite as bad as Jack did. Once he starts drooling more, we may reconsider the bibs. Its a good thing we have a huge stack from 3 years ago!

Pacifiers – we have tried to give Isaac a paci, but he isnt interested. He likes to chew it but rarely sucks on it.

realistic pregnancy weight loss | 2015 Vacation Laguna Beach

realistic pregnancy weight loss

We recently returned from a short, but much needed family vacation. Vacations never seem to be long enough, do they?

In true Moore fashion, we waited until the last minute to book our vacation rental (more on that in a future post). You know you need a vacation when you book (the night before your trip) for the WRONG WEEK.

Thankfully the rental people were accommodating and refunded us all of our money AND we found a new rental location in Laguna Beach outside of Panama City Beach.

Anyways, we started our trip off on the wrong foot. Besides the mishap with booking the wrong dates, we were all tired, I had a migraine and Jack was exhibiting some threenager tendencies.

To top it off, what should normally be a six-hour drive took us TEN hours. To be fair we did make a quick stop at IKEA in Atlanta, but the extra hours in the car took their toll on all of us.

Upon arriving at our rental we unloaded our stuff and went straight to bed.

The next morning Jack was up early so Daniel took him on a quick grocery run so that we could have breakfast at our condo.

Our days were filled with lots of digging on our stretch of beach, swimming in the Gulf, and a mid-day break each day to tour the breakfast places in the area (more on that in a future post).

This is probably the most low-key vacation we have ever taken. We are the people that like to do things on vacation (ok, maybe that is more me than Daniel), but this trip was all about doing nothing but going to the beach. And it was good.

It was more than good, it was needed.

We had three entire days on the beach and we soaked up the time of basically doing nothing.

In the past our typical vacations have been filled with hiking, biking, and paddling, and we end up feeling like we need a vacation from our vacation.

With kids, that just isnt possible. By the end of our trip everyone was more relaxed, less on edge, and functioning like a team again.

We could have easily stayed an entire week but are so grateful for the time that we were able to sneak away.

We didnt bike, hike, or take a tour to see dolphins. But we did rest, relax, take night walks on the beach and enjoy good food (that I didnt have to cook).

I have a feeling we will return to the busy, action-filled vacations in the coming years, but for now, it was nice to just rest and spend time with our boys.

baby weight loss shakes | Isaac is Two Months Old

baby weight loss shakes

When Jack was 8 weeks old we thought he was huge, weighing in at 12lbs 11oz. But he has nothing on Isaac. At 8 weeks Isaac weighs 14lbs 13oz! My milk must be seriously rich.

Looking back at Jack at two months, it is fascinating to see how similar Isaac is to his big brother... He grunts like a little piggy with each feeding (though he is improving in this area).

He wakes like clockwork at 3am and 5am each night. He can hold his head up, though it still bobbles some. And he is starting to coo and grab things.

Isaac has learned to close his fingers and grab onto my hair. And he has become fascinated with the rattle – he doesnt hold it yet, but watches intently if we shake it.

We survived his first round of immunizations. He was pitiful the day of, but a little Tylenol and lots of cuddles made things better.

With Jack we made great efforts to take him out with us, but I think that with Isaac we make even more of an effort.

This probably has to do with 1) the fact that we are more sure of our parenting skills and 2) Jack still expects life to carry on as usual. So we just kind of expect Isaac to go along with whatever we are doing. And he does.

This months firsts include dropping Isaac off at childcare at the Y, visiting a farm, going swimming, going on our first hike as a family of four, a trip to the Creative Discovery Museum with friends, and just continuing with life as usual (eating out, church, parks, play dates, grocery shopping, etc.).

Im so thankful that Isaac is an easy-going baby and just allows us to drag him along to everything we want to do!

Isaac has given us sweet smiles since he was born. Sometimes we even get a laugh. Most recently he will respond with a big grin if you grin at him.

He also has an incredible pouty lip and a pitiful whimper of a cry.

I would say that Isaacs favorite thing to do – by far – is sleeping. The boy will sleep anywhere. Even in the pool when we go swimming!

Speaking of sleeping, Isaac still sleeps in our room – he was a bit congested this month and were not comfortable having him away from us until we feel like he is breathing better. Though he has almost outgrown the Rock-N-Play that we have had him sleeping in, so we may be moving him sooner than were ready.

On the topic of growth, Isaac is 100+ percentile on weight (14lbs 13oz). At 23.5 inches long, he is in the 90th percentile on height and his big head is 96th percentile at 42cm. I have retired all of the newborn clothes and he wears 3-6 month stuff.

He is one big dude. As Daniel says, "I can see him growing every time he eats." Thank goodness for the weight training I have done is all I can say.

We have had quite a few people tell us that Isaac looks like Daniel. Daniel is jokingly offended since now that Isaac is big and bald, they think he looks him.

I know that Isaac is only 2 months old, but Im wondering if he is starting to teeth already. He gnaws on his paci (or my finger) and drools constantly.

We have been using cloth diapers with Isaac about 80% of the time. Out and about, disposable seems to work better. Especially when it is hot and I plan to carry him in the Ergo baby carrier (which we do often).

Over the last couple of weeks we started sitting Isaac in the high chair (at a reclined position) so that he can be with us during dinner. He is very social and I think he feels left out when we eat and dont include him. This also works (some of the time) when Im cooking – I just sit him in the high chair so he can watch.

Jack is a great big brother. He is very gentle with Isaac and holds him, offers to rock him, pats his head or shakes the rattle for him.

I know he is anxious for Isaac to be more interactive, but this stage has been sweet too.

*As with Jack, I will be posting monthly updates of Isaac on a quilt (inherited from my Grandma), next to a yellow Tonka truck (a toy from Daniels childhood). Isaac at One Month

A Look Back: Jack at One Month  |  Jack at Two Months
(We used a quilt from Daniels family for the Jack photos, along wit the Tonka truck from Daniels childhood).
