pregnancy losing weight second trimester | Chats with Jack

pregnancy losing weight second trimester

Its been awhile since I have had the time to post a "Chat with Jack" and it isnt because we have been lacking in interesting conversations... Life with a newborn doesnt leave a lot of time for blogging! These are the types of things Jack tells us out of the blue...

At bedtime, putting on jammies, Jack points to his nipples and says, What are these, mommy?
Me: Its your chest.
J: No, what are these? [again pointing to nipples]
Me: They are called nipples.
J: Do you have them? I want to see.
Me: Um, yes I have them and no you cant see them.

Do you trust me? [not sure where he heard this]

Why did God make it dark sometimes and sunny sometimes?

Watch me! or Look at me! [over and over ad nauseam]

Failing to adequately explain why the flowers come out in spring, I told Jack he would have to ask God...
J: Where is God?
Me: In Heaven
J: But where is Gods house?
I changed the subject because I wasnt sure how to answer this to appease a 3 year old.

I need some kind of sharp sword to cut it [a package] open.

J: This is my house.
D: Where is daddys house?
J: Your house is called work.
D: Where is mommys house?
J: Here, she can live here with me.
D: Do you want me to live here?
J: Yes. I miss you every day.

Joke as told by Jack:
Did somebody say potato salad? [laughs hysterically]

When I drop Jack off at various places, he always asks:
J: Will you miss me mommy?
Me: Yes, Ill miss you. Will you miss me?
J: No. But I miss daddy.

Oopsie

I have a question for you:
[proceeds to tell me something instead of asking a question]

Let me tell you why we bring you flowers: because we love you.
[followed by a sweet hug]

Mommy, I brought you more flowers because the others were starting to be dead.
[brought new flowers on the day we came home from the hospital]

J: I just farted. I cant stop my farts.
D: Its ok to fart.
J: Its good for me to fart, Mommy.

I want chicken nuggets, chocolate milk, snacks and my Chapstick. Thats all I need.

Mommy, do you want to go to preschool, the Y or the Discovery Museum today?
Pick one.

We have four family now.

My baby likes me.
I think he likes me.

Us: Do mommy and daddy have rules?
J: Yes
Us: Does Nana have rules?
J: No
Us: Do Amy and Emily have rules?
J: Yes

Whats our first mission?

Walmart has guns. [in reference to water guns]

Can I have a cinnamon? [he meant vitamin]

I love you all so much.

Well I guess I better get camping.

I want to go [to preschool] every tomorrow.

Can we ride in the car [in the middle of the night] every night?
[in reference to trip to Childrens ER in middle of night]

The button on the wall is in case you need to call the nurse if you need help. Or in case theres a monster. [in reference to nurse call button at hospital]

[sleep talking while sick]
J: Hey mommy?
Me: Yes?
J: Babies drink warm milk and Jacks drink cold milk.
Me: Ok honey.
[falls back asleep]

J: We didnt lay on the blanket... we had a special thing that rolled and folded into a chair. Daddy had one and I had one.
Me: Was it a creeper?
J: Yep

That hurts my feelings [when Isaac cries]
When Sophie barks and Isaac cries, that hurts my feelings.

pregnancy after weight loss surgery | Parenting Getting Over My Fear of Water

pregnancy after weight loss surgery

Growing up, I spent a lot of time around water. From swimming in the Pacific Ocean to swimming in pools, lakes and creeks. I taught myself how to swim at a young age and loved every moment.

At some point that love disappeared. Well, thats not entirely true. I still love water, but I hate to be in a swimsuit. Maybe it happened in college when I gained my freshman 15+, but I quit swimming. Daniel and I would take trips to the beach and we would bike, comb the beach or kayak, but we rarely got in the water

Then Jack came along and I felt like a change was needed. It wasnt fair to keep Jack from experiencing the joy of the water just because I dont like to wear swimsuits.

Another issue is that with kids has come a fear of water that didnt exist before. I read articles about kids drowning or secondary drowning and I want to stay far, far away from water. Then there is the fact that I have fair-skinned kiddos... I think about the sun reflecting off the water and the fear of skin cancer creeps into mind mind and again, I just want to stay far, far away.

But the truth is, being a parent brings its share of fears and I cant let those fears deter me from letting my kids experience life to its fullest. So while last summer we only went to the pool twice, this summer I am determined to take my kids more regularly.

Yesterday our small group from church kicked off the summer with a pool party. Daniel and I have two of the youngest kids in our group. Thankfully Daniel was there to help me juggle Jack and Isaac. He spent the whole time in the pool with Jack and Jack loved it. I got in with Isaac for a bit and he was a bit more ambivalent about the experience.

I got teased for having my kids covered in long-sleeve rash guards and hats – not much skin exposed. But to be fair, I had forgotten our sunblock and even though it was after 4pm, I didnt want my kids to get burnt.

Daniel and I are pretty laid back parents, but pools are one of the few places I am going to have to work on being more relaxed, while also being super watchful.

Heres to a safe summer spent with more time in the water.

baby weight loss tips | Introducing

baby weight loss tips

As a part of getting to go home from the hospital we had to decide on a name for our newest little guy. And while we like "Frog Man" (due to how our little guy splays out his legs), we finally agreed on a more realistic name (Jacks vote for "Pizza Moore" did not make the cut). Without further ado, we would like to introduce you to Isaac Alexander Moore.

Interestingly neither Isaac nor Alexander were on our original list.

The reason for Isaac is a bit of an emotional one for me. Being pregnant after my miscarriage brought on a lot of anxiety in my life. The entire pregnancy involved a conscious effort to let go of those fears daily. In addition to this fear came increased anxiety from the stress of having complications and risks due to polyhydramnios. The past 9 months have been one long lesson in giving over all of these fears to God, culminating in an emergency c-section where all I could do was pray that both the baby and I would come out ok and then trust God to take care of both of us.

In keeping with the middle name for Jack, we wanted Baby#2 to have a name that would hold sentimental value in relation to a place that was special to us.

For baby Isaac, we settled on the middle name Alexander after Alexander Cave located outside of Mountain View, Arkansas.

Daniel and I first met on a caving trip and took subsequent trips to Alexander. Alexander is a difficult cave with really amazing formations and rooms.

It is a truly awe-inspiring place and we hope to one day be able to take our boys to this wild cave.
