baby losing weight refusing bottle | Chats with Jack

baby losing weight refusing bottle

I am determined to keep blogging about life, I know one day I will look back and be thankful I did. That being said, my kids are only 3.5-years and 4-months old and it is already getting to be more challenging. Hoping to just keep at it as I can. Here are some of the interesting chats we have had with Jack over the last couple of months...

Ill check the rer-mometer [monitor] and let you know when Isaac wakes up.

When someone works SO HARD to build something, we dont tear it down.
[very upset at Sophie for knocking over a block tower].

Daniel and I were discussing an [electrical] transformer in our backyard and Jack wanted to know where the transformer [robot] was.
D: Some words mean more than one thing.
J: Its more than meets the eye?
D: Something like that.

Mommy, I found a nice spider!

My tummy hurts... I had too much sugar.

J: God lives at CVS.
Me: Actually, God lives everywhere.
J: He doesnt live in my neighborhood.
Me: ...

When Isaac gets bigger we will have two Jacks.

Jack is convinced that sneezes are called "bless yous."

Mommy has to read because she knows the words to all the books.

Aunt Emily is special, so we can park in the blue space [handicapped parking].

One of my friends doesnt love me. I love everybody, but not bad guys.

I can jump off the diving board, my goggles will protect me.

Me: Is daddy smart?
J: Yes.
Me: Is mommy smart?
J: All of us are smart.

Mommy, when I grow up I want to be a superhero.

Daddy does rock climbing for work.

Mommy, why are they the champions of the world? [listening to Queen in the car]

Everything is my favorite.

Hey Daddy, dont rest!

Done going potty but still sitting on the toilet... Jack was looking in Daniels Northern Tools catalog and said, "Im looking at all the machines."

D: Does Anya have any brothers or sisters?
J: Yes, Im her only brother.
D: Are you anyone elses brother?
J: Yes, Charlotte and Audreys.
D: Is Isaac your brother?
J: No.
D: Are you Isaacs brother?
J: Yes.

Is zoo-case really sugary? I like zoo-case. [koolaid]

Its a piranha [pinata].

There is a bad little cat with green eyes that is scaring me and making me itch inside. It goes in my leg and sucks my blood. Can I sleep with you? [has a recurring bad dream about a cat making him itch]

J: Its the Mariana Trench.
Me: Thats the deepest part of the ocean.
J: No, its the deepest, darkest place on Earth.
[thank you Octonauts]

Asher is my friend and he loves duct tape.

J: I want to paint my room.
D: Thats a lot of work buddy.
J: Thats ok it wont be hard for five of us.
D: Theres only three of us.
J: Ive got a couple of friends.

I have to get good at my new skills.

Mommy, grass and salmon are yummy. [dill on the salmon]

Note from Daniel:
The last few nights that weve “played” in the garage, Jack has insisted on setting up both camp chairs, then insists that we sit in them and have snacks while he props his feet up on the lift. [I suggested I use the office chair; but it just wouldn’t do].

Basically he’s been making his own man cave.

He also insisted on wearing the PFD [his old one that’s small]. Can’t remember why, I think it was to protect him from bad guys?

Sees picture of himself playing with Tonka truck at 10 months and says, "Look Isaacs playing with the truck."

Jack told me he wanted the episode with the five-zero and directed me to the number 50!
He is also adding numbers up to 10 with the use of his fingers.

Jack dumped a box of craisins on the floor. He picked them up [they were all covered in dog hair] and proceeded to tell me that I could have the furry ones.

J: Go mommy.
Me: The light is red, we have to wait until the light says we can go.
J: Mommy, lights dont talk.

Says things are "easy peasy."

Ive been rewarding Jack with tokens that he can exchange to watch TV, he calls them token tots.

J: Here you go sir.
Me: Thank you sir.
J: Youre welcome sir.
[Ive been working on teaching him that you are supposed to say "maam" if its a woman]

Mommy, did you know that all boys are action figures? [after a conversation with Aunt Angela about barbies vs action figures]

Me: Did you know my name is Virginia Cheree Moore?
J: [shakes head] I dont like that name.
Me: Whats my name?
J: Cheree and Mommy.

Mr. He-Man [instead of Mr. T] says "I pity the fool."

[keeps confusing Mr. T and He-Man action figures]

Im doing it the old fashioned way.

Me: Thats how we learn, we investigate and discover new things.
J: And we do flip overs.

To me: You went poop. Great job!

D: Who knows more about cars, Mommy or Daddy?
J: Mommy does.

When they talk fast its called Spanish.

Me: Are you flying in a spaceship, airplane or helicopter?
J: None. Im flying with rocket boots.

Recently learned how to spell his name: J A C K spells Jack!

pregnancy weight loss smoothies | Isaac is Three Months Old

pregnancy weight loss smoothies

Isaac experienced quite a few firsts during his third month of life.
He celebrated his first Fathers Day...

He went on his first trip to the Chattanooga Aquarium...

His took first road trip to Arkansas (9 hours there, 8 hours home)...

His attended his first 4th of July celebration...

And his first trip to go swimming in the lake.

Looking back, its kind of surreal how similar Isaac is to his big brother at this same age (though he is much bigger).

Jack at 6 months, Isaac at 2.5 months.

He has discovered that he can put his fist in his mouth, he is going through some excessive drooling (and chewing – maybe he has a tooth coming?), spitting up, and constant babbling – just like Jack at this same age.

Though I think Isaac actually talks more to us that Jack ever did. Especially in the evenings when he gets really chatty. I believe we have a little night owl.

On Fathers Day, we had an interesting experience: Daniel was holding Isaac at the dinner table and he started getting fussy. All of a sudden it sounded like he said, "I want my mama." He said it twice. Everyone at the table was incredulous. Daniel handed Isaac to me and he immediately settled down. I dont know that he was actually saying anything, but it kind of shocked all of us.

Isaac is also getting more and more interactive. If we grin at him, he will mimic us and grin back. It is the same for talking. We like to make goofy faces at him and have little conversations.

In addition to grinning and laughing at us, he also likes for his cheeks to be touched. For some reason this elicits really big smiles.

Isaac is still sleeping a ton. He is such a chill baby. He even sleeps in the pool whenever I take the boys swimming. Nothing like relaxing on a baby floaty, legs dangling in the water, and sleeping.

He loves to be held and doesnt seem to mind who does the holding.

At night he will sleep for 5-6 hour stretches. For me this seems to work best if I can do a midnight feeding and then sleep until 5am. For some reason waking up at 3 or 4 is exhausting (even if I do get 5 hours straight of sleep).

Isaac is one chubby boy. I know I have said it before, but he really is. I was nursing him a couple of weeks ago and his onesie popped open. I immediately retired all of his 3 month clothes.

He is also on the verge of outgrowing the Rock-N-Play that he currently sleeps in and his car seat. We will be moving him upstairs to his crib soon and may have to consider going ahead and moving him to the next size car seat.

Isaac is currently on a two-hour cycle for eating (except at night). He seems to think he will starve to death if he doesnt eat every two hours on the dot... Obviously he is in no danger of that happening.

We are still predominantly using cloth diapers, but for disposable I am about ready to upgrade him to size 4 as the size 3 barely close and he ends up having blow outs! Im pretty sure he is close to 20 pounds.

This little guy is still not a fan of tummy time, but can hold up his head really well while sitting. If I have him propped up on my knees he will try to pull his whole body to a sitting position. Those little abs are getting a workout!

We are loving our youngest little boy and look forward to the weeks, months and years to come.

*As with Jack, I will be posting monthly updates of Isaac on a quilt (inherited from my Grandma), next to a yellow Tonka truck (a toy from Daniels childhood).

A Look Back: Jack at One Month  |  Jack at Two Months  |  Jack at Three Months(We used a quilt from Daniels family for the Jack photos, along wit the Tonka truck from Daniels childhood).
